Essential Info

Who we are

CAAMPVENTION is sponsored by Severn Intergroup, we are a small committee of local AA members. We will be wearing Hi Vis so will be easy to identify should you need to talk to one of us. We also have a Gazebo, that you're sure to find one of us in by the main gate.

Tickets & the site

We have exclusive use of Elmwicke Campsite for the weekend, it is a large site – around seven acres! Tickets are per adult, not per pitch – due to the site's size we are not limited by pitch but the event is capped at 200.

This is a ticket only event and due to our risk assessment is capped. Tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite or on our website in advance.

When you arrive

When you arrive, you will see a stop sign. Please wait just inside the gate until a committee member has signed you in. If the gate is unmanned there will be a sign visible with a number to phone. You will be given a wrist band and a quick orientation of the site.

Not everyone who has booked has chosen to camp and we will have an allocated car park in the centre of the field. It is important that your wrist bands are worn, and you do not invite others onto the site.

Itinerary & activities

There will be an A frame near the event marquees, that will have the itinerary and useful information displayed. Everything on the itinerary is optional, feel free to come and go. We will announce activities on a megaphone.

Please note that if you wish to go fishing, there is a £5 charge to the lake not included.

There are two event marquees with hay bales, these can be a little prickly. Please feel free to bring a blanket across or a camping chair.

Families & children

This is a family friendly event, but we do ask that when the meetings are in progress that children play away from the marquees. We ask that when entering and leaving the site that you are mindful that there will be children playing on the field. Please ensure children are supervised as there is a communal fire and we have had issues with flooding in the toilets due to poor supervision.

Food & the café

The onsite café will be open throughout the day for refreshments and snacks, breakfast must be pre-ordered the day before. The site owners have been good to us, please do not ask to straighten your hair in the café or demand breakfast from them – they aren't employed by us.

We have scheduled breaks on the itinerary, please note only the BBQ on Saturday evening is included in your ticket. We will have two separate queues for Meat and Veggie/special dietary requirements this year – signposted. If you didn't follow the website instructions and contact us directly with any requests – we can't cater for you.

We will have an urn available with hot water for free Tea and Coffee and biscuits.

Shopping nearby

If you plan to shop when you arrive there is a Sainsburys, Aldi and Lidl just four miles away (head towards Cheltenham on the A4019), and Tesco is just a little further along the same road.

Campfires & rubbish

You are permitted to have a campfire providing it is in a fire pit. These can be hired, there is also wood for sale and all the necessary bits for a blaze! Please ensure you hang on to the bags and give these back so they can be refilled. Please do not take wood unless you have paid for it. Especially the wood for the main fire or it won't take place.

Please ensure any rubbish left in the communal areas is put in the appropriate bins and the site is left as you found it when leaving.

Dogs & the farm

Friendly, well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on the lead due to livestock and other campers. Please pick up the poo after your dog – or we will ask for your dog to be removed from site.

Please also note that the site is on a working farm and we are not to enter the farm. There are lots of local walks, we can help point you in the direction of these.

Please come prepared!

If you are new to camping and not sure what you need for a successful weekend drop us an e-mail and we'll help with a list of essentials.

The temperature drops at night, so please ensure you have layers! We can't guarantee the weather and whilst we have wet weather provisions – be prepared and don't forget your coat!

A torch is a must as there is no lighting across the site at night, when making your way to the loo! There are disabled toilet facilities and a ramp to access the café. The field is level, the marquees and campfire will be located by these facilities to ensure easy access.

Yoga & Conscious Connected Breathwork

If you wish to take part in yoga, please bring a mat or blanket. The Yoga is very gentle with no experience necessary.

Conscious Connected Breathwork is best practiced lying down, so bring a yoga mat or a supportive camping chair and blanket. Your body temperature can drop. Water and tissues recommended. We actively inhale fully through the mouth into the belly, then passively exhale through the mouth with no pause between each breath for approx 35–40 min. Try and avoid food an hour beforehand. You may experience intense physical and emotional experiences so if you have any serious medical issues, we ask you not to participate.

These sessions are limited and due to the briefing beforehand – we can't take any latecomers.

Breathwork contraindications

Please do not take part in Breathwork if any of the following apply to you: Pregnancy, Asthma, Epilepsy, Detached retina, Glaucoma, Uncontrolled BP, CVD, Mental Health Illnesses, Strokes/TIAs, Seizures, Neurological Conditions, Anti-Coagulants, Osteoporosis, Respiratory Diseases, Oncology Treatment, Chronic Diseases, Terminal illness, Unhealed Injuries.

We've tried to include as much information as we possibly can! We are super excited for the weekend's sober shenanigans!
